I partially agree that this technique will work, however for any affirmation to be effective it must be backed by intent.
In other words you must already be aware of the false or limiting belief that you intend to change, and consciously apply the affirmation to that belief usually by applying intense feeling or emotion in combination with the affirmation. (Unfortunately most people are not aware of what their limiting beliefs are)
Secondly the affirmation must be worded in such a way as to be "allowed" by the Reticular Activating System (RAS) which will automatically reject anything which is not in it's current program. Coupled to the RAS is the psycho cybernetic mechanism which also needs to be reprogrammed to allow you to utilise the new belief you are attempting to create. Both the RAS and the psycho cybernetic mechanism are extremely difficult to reprogram if the correct techniques are not applied. Affirmations on their own will not acheive this.
Hypnosis (self hypnosis, or with the help of a therapist) and NLP are both useful techniques for reprogramming the RAS and the psycho cybernetic mechanism and working directly on the subconscious mind. (There are other techniques and products available which may be equally as effective)
In conclusion, once you are aware of what your limiting or false belief is, and once you have "allowed" the new belief to take root in the subconscious, affirmations will work extremely effectively in reinforcing the new belief with positive results following.
